BC&V Advisors + CPAs has reached agreement with K-1 SPLITTER on a multi-year deal, sources tell BC&V Insider.
Story developing
Copies every recipient's complete K-1 package out of a business return into its own PDF. Partners, shareholders, beneficiaries. Any preparer's return, including scanned ones.

Combine results
Whole return, start to finish, whatever the recipient count.
1065, 1120-S and 1041. It detects which one on its own.
It only ever writes copies. The original is never touched.
Head to head
The headline is not the minutes saved on one small return. It is that the old way charges you again for every recipient and this does not.
| Doing it by hand | K-1 Splitter | |
|---|---|---|
| Return with 5 K-1s | 10 to 15 min | 3 to 5 min |
| Each additional recipient | Another 2 to 3 min, every time | No additional time |
| Return types | Whichever you can read | 1065, 1120-S, 1041, auto-detected |
| Another firm's return | No shortcuts, page by page | Anchors on the K-1 form itself, so the preparer does not matter |
| Scanned return | Read it off the screen and retype | Falls back to OCR |
| File naming | However you typed it that day | Identical every run, template configurable |
| The source PDF | Open in front of you, one stray save away | Never modified |
| A call it is unsure about | You may not notice | Flagged in the run summary, every time |
Timings are BC&V's own measurements on a 5 recipient return, not a vendor claim. The per recipient figure is derived from that same measurement. Your mileage varies with the return.
Pre-signing evaluation
Every honest scouting report lists what a player cannot do yet. These weaknesses are lifted from the skill's own documentation, unedited in substance.
Front office note. The source return is always retained, so anything missed is recoverable from the original. Read the flags it gives you. The flags are the point. Past that it just pounds the rock: the same unglamorous job on the four hundredth return as on the first.
How it fits the system
Or just point at the return, or at a
K1 Documents (ENTITY).pdf, and say what
you want out of it. You do not have to use the exact wording.
One PDF per recipient, plus a run summary listing every file, its page count, and the pages it came from. Named like this:
Then read the flags block underneath. If the recipient count is not what you expected, or one file is far longer than the others, stop and look before you send anything.
Introductory press conference
"We were not adding for the sake of adding. This is a role player and that is exactly what we wanted. It knows the system, it does the unglamorous thing every single time, and nobody has to run a play for it. April is long enough without somebody sitting there dragging pages out of a PDF one at a time."
"Fundamentals over flash. What sold me was that it tells you when it is not sure. Plenty of tools would rather look confident than be right. This one makes the extra pass and lets the preparer take the shot, and that is worth more to us than the speed."
"I pound the rock. Same swing, same return, every time. I find every recipient, I give each one their own file, and I put the original back exactly where I found it. If I am unsure about a page, I say so out loud instead of guessing. I am not here to take the shot."
2026 signing class
Every skill we bring in gets a number. We would rather develop a roster than chase a headline, so the wall fills up one signing at a time.
